Triple Threat
Triple Threat Volunteers FAQ
What do volunteers do?
Volunteers facilitate workshops, activities and art projects for youth. Volunteers also learn about and practice delivering sexual health education amongst peers in a safe and supportive setting.
In the past, volunteers have contributed towards an LGBT Youth Zine Project, an HIV Edmonton and Youth Understanding Youth (YUY) joint project. For more information about YUY go to http://members.shaw.ca/yuy/
Volunteers also presented an Artist Trading Card Workshop at Camp fYrefly. For more information about Camp fYrefly go to http://www.fyrefly.ualberta.ca/
What is the time commitment? Approximately 4-10 hours per month over the course of the year, which includes training, meetings, workshops, prep work and travel time.
What are the requirements to join?
Youth between the ages of 15-24 are welcome to join. A desire to learn about sexual health and/or the ability to mentor youth with different knowledge levels, abilities and ages, and a flexible schedule are strongly suggested. This program is free – there are no fees involved in joining.
When are the presentations?
Presentation dates vary. HIV Edmonton receives requests for presentations though out the year. Some are during the evening, some are during the day, and some are on weekends. The coordinator will give you as much notice as possible before presentation.
How many people are on the Team?
The Team includes everyone that completes training and participates in workshops. Only 2-5 people will facilitate a presentation at a given time.
How do I become a volunteer?
The Triple Threat program is no longer taking new volunteers at this time, but keep checking back for future volunteer opportunities.
