“Just ASK…”
What is the Just ASK campaign?
The "Just ASK" campaign is a series of posters aimed for clients and healthcare professionals to "Just ASK" about STI/HIV testing. The main goal is twofold. First, to encourage clients to advocate for their sexual health and get STI/HIV testing, and second to have healthcare providers ask their clients about their sexual health. The campaign is an attempt to normalize sexual health and make it a part of holistic self care.

Why is this message important to me?
In Alberta, the rates of STIs such as syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea and blood borne pathogens (BBP) such as HIV and Hep C affect a significant number of people each year. Currently, there is a syphilis outbreak that is affecting all ages, genders, ethnicities, sexual preferences, and socioeconomic status in Alberta. (Read more about syphilis.)
STI & HIV infections do not discriminate. Be proactive and get STI/HIV testing.
What is the importance of getting tested?
STIs are among the most commonly spread infections in Canada. Often people do not know they are infected with an STI/HIV because they do no have symptoms or do not recognize them. Accessing STI/HIV testing reduces the rates of infections by providing proper treatment, support, and education about prevention. STI/HIV testing will also reduce your anxiety and encourage you to be proactive about your sexual health.
