Global Mental Health Ethics Symposium
Global Mental Health Ethics: A Nursing
Research Perspective
The urgency to address research in mental health
illness and itstreatment has been acknowledged only recently by the
world community. Mental illness, although responsible for one third
of the days Canadians spend in hospitals and costing the Canadian
economy approximately $18 billion/year, has received little
attention and it is still considered the "orphaned child"of health
care.
