HIV Edmonton Announces Top Fundraiser
HIV Edmonton announced the results of the 2009 Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life at a Wrap-up Party at Woody’s Pub, held Thursday October 8. For the fourth year in a row, Laurie Hawn, MP for Edmonton Centre was named Top Walker, winning a trip for two to NYC to participate in AIDS Walk New York and attend all corresponding VIP events, courtesy of Travel With Us.

World AIDS Day 2009
World AIDS Day is commemorated internationally every year on December 1st, and is preceded by AIDS Awareness Week. The aim of World AIDS Day and AIDS Awareness Week is to raise consciousness in the community about issues surrounding HIV/AIDS.

Crack Smoking Rooms May Cut HIV Risk: Study

People who smoke crack cocaine are at increased risk of becoming infected with HIV — a finding that highlights the need to adopt and to evaluate the use of safe inhalation rooms and safer crack kits, B.C. researchers say.

Study Links Group Sex To Increased HIV Risk

Researchers in Australia studying sexuality and HIV transmission risk have coined the term "sexual adventurism." Activities such as engaging in group sex, having a high number of sex partners and attending sex saunas are all considered "aspects of sexual adventurism."
